How to Assemble Your Rivet Tassel
These cute little tassels are quick and easy to make, with no sewing or glue required! Follow the simple steps below, or watch my video tutorial to see exactly how they come together.
What You'll Need
- FREE Template by Maisie Moo
- A lobster clasp or your preferred keychain hardware (optional)
- A rivet (I used approximately an 8 mm long post)
- A long needle to help align the holes
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare your tassel
Cut out your chosen tassel size. You can use a single colour of faux leather or layer two colours together for a contrasting fringe.

2. Start folding
Begin folding your tassel from the end where the holes are closest together, lining up the small holes along the top. Position your hanging tab within the first folds, looping it through your chosen hardware if using a clasp.
3. Keep those holes aligned!
Here's my little trick! Thread a long needle through the holes as you fold the tassel around itself. This keeps all the layers lined up and makes assembly so much easier.
4. Secure with a rivet
Once you've finished folding, carefully remove the needle and insert your rivet through the aligned holes. Add the rivet cap and secure it using your rivet-setting tool.
5. Fluff and finish!
Gently separate the fringe, and you're done! Your adorable little tassel is ready to attach to your keys, purses, wallets, handbags or other handmade creations.

A little tip: The rivet length required will depend on the thickness of your faux leather. I find an approximately 8 mm post works well for mine.
Happy crafting! 💕
