My Mum Voted This My Handiest Design Ever…

Sometimes it’s the simplest little designs that end up being the most useful.

And apparently, according to my mum, this one wins. 😂

I originally designed this tiny faux leather Pixie Pocket Pouch as a little keychain holder — somewhere safe to tuck away those teeny things that have an annoying habit of disappearing.

But over the years I’ve realised there are so many different uses for it.

My mum keeps her emergency pills in hers. It clips onto her bag, they’re always with her, and she doesn’t have to go digging around trying to find them.

And that got me thinking about all the other tiny things we carry around…

One tiny pouch… so many little jobs

You could use yours for:

  • 💍 Rings or jewellery when travelling, swimming or at the gym
  • 💊 A couple of emergency tablets
  • 🎸 Guitar picks
  • 💾 SD or memory cards
  • 🪙 Coins or trolley money
  • 🎧 Tiny tech bits
  • ✨ Little keepsakes or treasures

Basically, anything tiny that you really don’t want to lose!

That’s probably why Mum loves hers so much.

A super-quick faux leather project

It’s also one of those satisfying little makes that doesn’t require a mountain of supplies or an entire afternoon.

Cut the template from your favourite faux leather, add your snap and keyring hardware, fold it into shape and you have a useful little pouch ready to clip onto keys, a handbag, backpack or lanyard.

They’re brilliant for using up smaller pieces of faux leather too — which means you can finally justify keeping all those scraps. 😉

Perfect for little gifts… or selling at markets

This week I gave this older Maisie Moo favourite a bit of fresh attention and made a new batch.

Once they were finished and attached to their little display cards, I remembered just how cute they are packaged up.

They would make such an easy little add-on gift, stocking filler, teacher gift, travel accessory or market-stall item — particularly because you can give each one a purpose.

A Ring Keeper.

A Pill Pouch.

A Pick Pocket for guitar picks.

A tiny Treasure Pouch.

Same little design. Completely different people to sell or gift it to.

And I think that might be my favourite thing about it.

Sometimes the old favourites deserve another look

With hundreds of Maisie Moo templates in my shop now, some of my older designs inevitably disappear into the background while I’m busy creating something new.

But every now and then I pull one back out and think…

Why did I ever stop talking about this one?

So Mum, you win.

The Pixie Pouch officially gets another moment in the spotlight. 💕
