Cricut SVG Uploading Too Large? Design Space Sizing Help
Important Information for Cricut Design Space Users
A recent Cricut Design Space update is causing some SVG files to upload at a different size from the size they were originally created at. In most cases, the template appears larger than intended.
Please don’t panic — your Maisie Moo template can still be used. I’m currently working through my designs and updating files to make checking the correct sizing as simple as possible.
✅ How to Check Your Maisie Moo Template
Many of my updated files now include a 1-inch test square or another test shape such as a circle or credit-card-sized shape.
After uploading your SVG into Cricut Design Space:
- Find the test square or test shape included with the template.
- Check that it measures the size shown on the template.
- If it is already correct, your template is ready to use.
- If the test shape is the wrong size, select the entire template, including the test shape.
- Resize everything together, keeping the proportions locked, until the test shape measures correctly.
- Once the sizing is correct, you can delete or hide the test shape before cutting.
Important
Always resize all pieces together. Do not resize individual template pieces separately, as they need to remain in proportion to one another.
🟪 What if my file doesn't have a test square?
Maisie Moo Design has hundreds of designs and thousands of individual files, so I am working through my collection and updating them as quickly as I can.
If you have purchased a design that does not yet contain a test square or another sizing reference and you are unsure whether it has uploaded correctly, please contact me with the name of the design.
I’m very happy to help you check it.
✂️ Bows, Earrings & Designs You Can Resize to Suit
Some Maisie Moo designs, such as hair bows, earrings and other preference-sized projects, do not need to be made to one exact finished size.
These can be resized to suit your project.
For bows, the tail piece is a useful guide to the approximate finished size. If you are unsure, I recommend doing a quick test cut from paper or cardstock before cutting your faux leather.
🛠️ What I'm Doing at Maisie Moo
I’m not simply waiting for Cricut to resolve the problem.
As I update my files, I am:
• Fitting the SVG artwork correctly to the artboard before export
• Adding a 1-inch test square or suitable test shape where appropriate
• Checking older templates as I work through the Maisie Moo collection
The test shape also gives customers an easy way to verify sizing in the future, even after the current Design Space issue has been resolved.
💕 Please Check Before Cutting
Because faux leather and other craft materials can be expensive, I strongly recommend taking a few seconds to check the test shape before sending your project to the machine.
This simple check can prevent wasted materials.
